  : The original 60s design features of this hotel are absolutely remarkable but if you're a fan of beige, identikit hotels then this place is not for you. Every space feels like a time-capsule of its former hey-day. The breakfast room/restaurant has the best view in town - 13floors up in the crow's nest you can see most of Porto just below and it is well worth trying to get a table for supper there one night - incredible menu and faultless silver service - we watched a series of smartly dressed young couples come for romantic dinners while we enjoyed fantastic local cuisine. Breakfast is the usual continental with ham, cheese, buttery croissants and other baked wares on offer. Our room was a little small and dingy with a dark tapestry-style wall paper but the view from the 11th floor was amazing and all the amenities worked. We had some trouble with the aircon but the front desk sorted it very quickly. Buses and Metro stations are not too far away and taxi travel around Portugal is very cheap too. Staff were all very attentive and had very good English
  : Even high up the noise of the busy street below can be a bit of a bother in the early hours. The Lift (only 1 for hotel) is temperamental and indicators don't actually work. Bar is sadly understocked and understaffed but there's an independant bar underneath the hotel where you can get a better choice of booze. Those same design features that are a real asset also come with a hindrance... our room was just a little too dark, curtains needed replacing and the bathroom needed updating. But even with these few niggles I am really glad we chose this hotel...

  : Excellent staff, very clean, good breakfast. Plenty of hot water and a hairdryer. The TV had both Sky news and BBC news.
  : It was very dated and curtain was ripped. Also it was at the top of a hill.

  : The receptionist was excellent, he described the best places to go and went through the map in great detail. Then we went to our room.....
  : I don't normally complain, you get what you pay for is my normal mantra. This "hotel" is a long way from the centre, about twenty five minutes downhill, with no metro access. It is also located at a height so walking back from the centre is an effort to say the least (30 minutes)..There is nothing around the hotel whatsoever.The hotel looks like it was a great place in the 1950s but it hasn't been touched since then. Dirty carpets, a broken heating system, windows that open fully on the 12th floor, poor bed, curtains that don't work and a bathroom that leaked constantly. We left after the first night, something we never do normally, and just took the hit on the cost. We got another hotel in the town which was only thirty euro dearer and was ten times better, only 3 minutes from the river with a shower, curtains, air on and a clean room.

  : We had a wonderful view from our room because we were on the top floor.
  : The furniture was old and showed indications of wear and tear. We had to use the cargo lift to get to our accommodation because the main lift was not operating. For breakfast, we must pass via the kitchen to reach the main dining hall.

  : The room was bright, spacious with excellent views of the city. The breakfast was excellent. The staff was helpful with maps and directions. The laundromat was just down the road.

  : The hotel is definitely not a new one. One can say that it remembers better times. Some equipment is not working, especially only one working elevator was a problem. Especially when you need it to get to roof restaurant and reception too.
