Sandgate 2-Bed Apartment in Ayr central location

  : Handy for central Ayr. Near to shops and restaurants.
  : Very steep steps up to the flat. Internal stairs are a hazard - too steep and no toilet upstairs. The double bed in the downstairs bedroom was very small and the 1st night I bumped my head into the side of the wall so my partner and I spent the 4 nights separately- partner in the bed and me on the sofa in the living room. Hardly conducive to a romantic break! Also , my partner ended up with bites on his legs - probably from bed bugs!. The fridge in the kitchen had no shelves on the inside door and only 1 shelf inside. The bottom part of 1 of the kitchen units had fallen off, and the space underneath had mousetraps positioned there. We didn't want to make a meal there so ate out all of the time. The "garden furniture" was broken and nowhere to sit - just like a yard for the bins. In my opinion the flat owners had a cheek to expect the rate paid for the flat for the 4 nights . A complete waste of money and we were so disappointed.

  : Appartment location was perfect to where we needed to be during this visit. We highly recommed the Tree House Restuarant directly opposite. Food and service here was excellent.
  : Parking not on site, we thought it was at time of booking. Communal access corridor off the main entrance from the street needs to be swept and cleared of pigeon/seagulls feathers. Entrance felt dirty and not a good impression on arrival. We were not aware in advance of the metal stairs to access the 1st floor appartment . The internal staircase up to the 2nd larger bedroom was dangerously steep and again we were not aware of this in advance of making the booking. This is not an appartment suitable for children or for the elderly especially if they have issues with their knees as my husband and I do. Only 1 shared toilet, this was not ideal, we presumed there were two full ensuite bathrooms to include sink, shower and toilet when we made the booking. Both beds need to be replaced. Very rickety and not comfortable. We all ended up aching after an uncomfortable nights sleep. The bed linen was not ironed. This lack of attention to detail made the beds/room feel grimy. The shower head fell apart and shower knob came off in our hands in the upstairs bathroom. We could fortunately get the knob back on to turn off the flow of water. Although cleaned, both showers were showing mould in the seals and this needs replacing as they felt dirty. Couldn't fully close the curtains in upstairs bedroom. Noisy traffic kept us awake throughout the night. We never got the TV working despite following the instructions. Living room felt the nicest part of the appartment. There was only sugar provided in the kitchen, not even a limited supply of tea/coffee although there were containers on display for them. This accommodataion was very disappointing and the photos definitely make it look better than it truly is. Graeme the host was attentive via email, however the purpose of the stay was to attend a family funeral of our nephews 17 year old son and the occassion was not right to complain at the time to him as nothing could have been done.

  : The flat is not suitable for older folk like my friend and myself. Very difficult steps up to front door and extremely steep stairs to top bedroom. I think it should be advertised as unsuitable for elderly. Shower area very cramped. Heaters difficult to operate.
