  : Perfect location if your visiting the York barbican for an event, bit a bit out of the way for anything else
  : There were pictures of food on their website, but when we arrived, we were told they weren't doing food at the moment, apart from breakfast, which could be added to your stay for 8.95 per person. So there was a bit of a mess about to get food before we headed over to the Barbican for the event we had booked. When we added breakfast, we weren't told a time for serving. Usual breakfast times for any b&b/hotel starts between 7 and 8, so we kept checking the bar area from 8am, finally around 8.50 we could hear voices and movement so we went down and picked our seat. Breakfast came, and, although it looked nice, we were bitterly disappointed. The plates were freezing, which didn't keep any of the food warm. The beans were in a small dish on the plate and were as cold as if they had just come out of the tin, the bacon had gone hard, as it was cold, and the egg yolk was overcooked. I must say that they can make a decent cup of tea though .If you're a contractor that just needs digs to get their head down on a night then this place is perfect! Just be aware of the current food situation, and find somewhere else on the way to work for breakfast!
