  : Firstly, let me just say, my partner and I come out to Morro Bay multiple times a month. We normally have 2 favorite hotels that we stay at, but this particular weekend, we decided on a whim to head out without a reservation for a room. To our surprise, all of the rooms at our normal hotels were booked (this usually isn’t the case so early in the year). So we decided to stay at Best Western Tradewinds, hoping that they would become a new favorite place to stay while in town. However, when we arrived for check in, there was no staff present. We waited in the parking lot in our car for 45 minutes. When the only staff member on the property came back from break, we were able to finally check in. I was relieved as I was very exhausted from the drive and beach play and ready to take a nap. But, we were told there was an issue with room keys and that the “systems” had to be rebooted, but not to worry because staff would bring up our keys later. I was thankful to be let into my room so that we could get settled but slightly skeptical about being brought my room keys later, as I wasn’t sure my partner would be present. But, we never received keys to our room. The employee told my partner that the room key systems weren’t rebooting and that we’d likely have to go without keys for the night, and staff would be off the property until 7am. Keep in mind, this was 2 HOURS after we checked in. This was a problem for us because my partner likes to go night fishing, and I as a noc shift worker, hadn’t slept all day or the night prior (we had a spur of the moment need for some salty air and beach therapy). So I had to periodically wake up and make sure my partner wasn’t locked out of the room. Which was obviously very inconvenient. A separate issue was that the beds were comfortable (thankfully), but the linen looked dirty. The room included soap dispensers (nice), but all of them were empty. The floor had a fine layer of dust.
