  : The apartment itself was as described. The kitchen contained everything needed to prepare meals. The refrigerator was large.
  : The host described the location as "lively." In reality, music from the bar across the street shook my bed all night long. I wore industrial-grade earplugs. I have lived on streets with nightlife for the last two decades. This is not "lively," it's a war zone. This is NASA broadcasting a rave to aliens in other galaxies. Even on the days I tried to sleep in, the walls are so thin, the guests above me woke me early with their alarm clock and then there was stomping after that for 1-2 hours. The last morning was the icing on the cake as two police vans parked right outside the apartment rounding up people who had passed out on the street. I would recommend this to party people, but then again, even sleeping in could be challenging if the apartment upstairs is occupied. After the first night, I contacted the host and asked if it would be possible to re-list the property and I would leave and go find another place to stay. They said they would lose revenue.

  : Trying to get our reserved taxi for a red eye flight. Still hundreds of party goers on the street at 3.30am.

  : Proximity to the major tourist attractions, close to metro stop around 10min, safe at night.
  : There is a club just opposite the property and it gets very noisy especially fri and sat night. Make sure you bring ear plugs with you and close the windows in order to get a good sleep.

  : Jorge our host met us at the apartment and gave us great information on the city and lots of great tips as well as the use of a map and guide books. Really helpful. We were right in the middle of Bairro Alto so we were central to everything and walked to most of the sights . It is a noisy, buzzing, narrow street with wall to wall bars and eateries, but we knew this before we booked it and the bedroom is at the back so we were fine with that.
  : No electric kettle but we had a stove top one for boiling water. We had expected a balcony we could sit on but it is just a juliette one. Street is in the shade and lacks privacy anyway so we managed without it.
