: The villa was right on the beach and in a good location for restaurants and shops. The outdoor area is great its very spacious and obviously has private steps down to the beach.

: Villa Mare was on a lovely part of Agios Sostis, a very quiet beach with it's own entrance onto it. The walk to Laganas was about 30 mins. The cleaners were friendly and were useful in helping us settle in.
: Unfortunately the above positives were let down by the rest of our stay, and this is my first ever negative review on Booking.com Unfortunately on our first few nights we found lots of bites over our bodies, and then we found bed bugs in several of the beds. Upon informing the owner, cleaners were sent to "spray the mattresses", however Dimitrios refused to take any responsibility and denied that there were any bugs (despite strong evidence - not attached while booking.com investigate) In the rooms where the bugs were mainly found, the general sleeping area was found to be very unclean. We were told that we were the first guests of 2022 (Early June), but the mattresses themselves were filthy! Bed bugs pose a serious risk to guests as they can cause an infestation if brought home, so a few of us had to spend a good amount on buying new baggage/clothes, repeatedly washing everything that had been in the bedrooms. Once returning to the UK, the owners of Villa Mare tried to charge us 350 EUR for "damages" to the property, claiming that we had in fact brought the bugs into the villa on our shoes, and that we had been sleeping with our shoes on (which I'm sure you can agree is a ridiculous accusation). As a property owner, Dimitrios should know that this is not how infestations of bed bugs are caused. I tried to contact the owners to come to an amicable solution but I was blocked by Dimitrios as soon as I left the country!! I also have some decent evidence that the owners/cleaners were aware of potential bed bugs but failed to warn us. I hope that this property improves on its cleanliness in the future, but with an owner who does not take any care of the villa, I would strongly suggest staying away!
