  : Not being familiar with Chania, we took a chance, hoping the location was decent and boy did we win out! We arrived after dark, so could tell that it was within the heart of the main town, but were so tickled and happy when we woke up the next morning and say out on our little balcony and saw the beautiful hills in the background and then turned around and saw the harbor too! We loved the little street it was located on. And I can't say enough about Ioannis Maragoudakis, the manager (?), owner (?), when I say we arrived after dark, I should say we arrived at least three hours later than originally expected - at close to 11 p.m. after arriving on a delayed ferry. We were frazzled, tired and stressed about arriving so late, but Ioannis was waiting outside for us with a warm smile and greeting before helping us carry our bags in and getting us set up in our room - it was kind of like arriving to stay with a friend or family member rather than a hotel room. And while I don't think you could say the rooms were fancy by any means, they were very clean, well-appointed, spacious and comfortable. This stay was probably the best value and nicest surprise in terms of accommodations during our two week trip throughout Greece.
  : Nothing that was within control of the property. My caution for anyone staying in Chania is to understand just how little parking there is available surrounding the old harbor and to plan accordingly. Most accommodations do not have parking and because we arrived so late due to a delayed ferry, there was pretty much no hope of finding street parking. There is a 24/7 parking garage about a mile away that is fairly reasonably priced and is likely worth planning to park at as long as you plan in advance for how to move your luggage. The walk itself is not bad at all, but if you have a lot of luggage, you should figure out how you want to move it.
