: The location is atmosferic, if you like this kind of atmosphere (narrow streets, local people, backyards, dogs, ruins). And if you are fit enough to climb 100 steps everyday to get there (there is also a long way without steps, but it is a steep one too). The basement has lots of equipment including a washing machine, but dont count on having a washing powder or gel at your disposal. The design of the place is nice and it looks spectacular in pictures. In reality, it is not so great because of the deterioration that took place there. This place has already mouldered. The neighbours are nice.
: First of all, you must pay 10 EUR for the keys. Of course you can pick them up at the rental company office, but who does that coming from the airport after a long trip? Then you will never find the place. It is hidden and not on the google maps even. So you pay. What is more, this is a basement. Dark one and humid. In a tiny backyard of other houses. Difficult to find. The lack of daylight makes it impossible to stay during the day. This place is good only for short visits. Because of the wooden construction of the ceiling and the antiquity of the building, you will deal with every step and sound (including conversations) from the neighbours above you. You may not care, but it is a huge inconvenience for some. But the worst thing is the mould. Due to the lack of ventilation this basement is just rotten. It stinks, especially in the bathroom, and you can observe mould on walls in many places. This ruins every positive experience you may have in this place, especially for the offered price. I imagine for an allergic or astmatic person this place could be a hell. Also, it is not the cleanest place you can get. And almost nothing is provided (besides hotel standards). Just liquid soap and liquid for hand washing dishes. No tea, no coffee, no sugar, no even bags for the bins. And the supermarket is far away. You can find good offers in Porto where all is provided for the price. And the price is much lower than here.
