Aztec Hotel and Spa

: Lovely hotel and staff were friendly and helpful. We were given upgraded room as our previous experience there was so bad we were offered a discount ( the discount couldnt be honoured but as an alternative an upgraded room was offered instead).
: The breakfast booked time slot was not available (website details are apparently incorrect) but I was made to feel that I had made the mistake. Limited timed breakfast slot system is also not something I like booking in advance - I prefer flexibility as my husband is diabetic and would be better for his circumstances. The lift was broken.

: Great get away for spa facilities and pampering. We had a room with a terrace overlooking a beautiful pond, that was lovely. It was pure luxury, plus a lavazza coffee pod machine in the room. I loved the White Company toiletries. The bar was luxurious and other seating areas. I loved the Curious Kitchen! Two particular bar staff members, Connor and Donna, went out of their way compared to the rest. It's lovely and quiet here, so rest is guaranteed. The bed and pillows are of very good quality. The food is of very high standard and good portion size. Not to mention very tasty!
: The hotel is like a maze. It's not clearly signposted, and it took nearly 10 minutes to get to our room , carrying luggage and negotiating steps, stairs, long corridors, and lifts. Do get written instructions if you have a room with a terrace! There is a telephone in the room , however, I had to request the same item 4 times over 3 hours until there was a change of staff to get the item delivered to the room. I also requested help to take the luggage from my room to the car on leaving. This was not possible. In spite of my disability. The breakfast staff seemed rushed and forgetful of not just mine but others' orders with lack of interest, a complex menu system, and cutlery not preset. When I booked the hotel, I chose the breakfast included option. However, on arrival, this was no longer there, so I had to pay twice. Upon leaving, I was asked to pay for the breakfast a third time! I don't believe the record keeping and / or database is up-to-date! I understand there is a refund I'm due because of this. I would not say don't stay, but do take proof of all you've paid for! Otherwise, it's not bad, just uneeded stress. The pub The Black Sheep, owned by the hotel, was not at all homely.
