  : Disappointed that, because of staff shortages the restaurant was not available for evening meals as advertised in the guide book.

  : The hotel is a sort of antique, but it is just fit my likings.The meals in the restaurant is excellent. Especially the fish and chip which my daughter ordered. Very fresh.I only met one hotel staff during my staff. He is very kind and helpful.Private parking location is in the the back of the hotel but up on the hill in the back. Which needs some patience to find it out even with a simple map put on the front desk. Afterall, with that price tag, I am very satisfied. Adam

  : TV kept freezing and pixelating till reception came to fix. Only one plug outlet including TV. Hot and cold water taps. Room 10 is not as nice as other rooms when people checked out and I look inside

  : The food was acceptable.
  : The building is in poor repair and in desperate need of refurbishment. The kitchen facilities only operated part time. The hot food was served late at Breakfast every morning, meaning that I had to make do with the slim offerings on the continental breakfast for half of my stay. The hot breakfast buffet and restaurant facility was only available on certain days. There were no alcohol sales on the premises. It was run with a skeleton staff, some of whom were very pleasant but other, apparently senior staff, gave the impression they would rather be somewhere else. I was travelling for business and had very little choice but to accept the vastly over inflated rates that are being charged for this sub standard hotel. There are many far superior alternatives available on Orkney at a much more reasonable cost, at other times of year. This hotel ( which I understand closes over the winter months) is taking advantage of the general shortage of accommodation on the island during busy seasons without making any effort to improve or invest in their aged facilities. Very disappointed.

  : Charming, very old hotel in the heart of Stromness. Close to everything. Nice staff.
  : Beds were not comfortable and windows only opened a few inches so the room got a bit warm. Car park was difficult to find. Lifts are very small so please be aware if you're claustrophobic!

  : Staff were great. Breakfast was buffet style and reasonable quality. Location by the harbour is great for the ferry.
  : They have closed the bar (which was popular locally) and the restaurant does not do evening meals mid week, so finding somewhere to eat can be hard as the only two local eating places were fully booked. Ended up with Chinese takeaway as the only option.
