  : I was not a victim of a crime.
  : Terrible. Absolutely terrible. After using Booking.com for a small road trip, I felt confident selecting the lowest price hotel in Santa Cruz with "free breakfast." I requested a quiet room- he didn't care. Also, on check in, the guy said he had to put his plate away, and was gone for 5 minutes.When he mentions the $100 deposit (what?), a shady couple behind me asked about it and walked out. I said, "this place is safe- no crime, right?" He goes into a explanation that I should lock my door, and not go outside, and not answer my door for anyone- and I'll be fine. The absurdity of this statement was lost on him. As a healthy single male, I'm confident taking care of myself, but otherwise (and it's 10:00pm on Sunday night) I'd be gone. He reminds me 2-3 times, no visitors (?)I was put right next to a room with a couple that was talking very loudly for 10:00pm on Sunday night. I requested a room change, but the guy said no, and called to shut them up- and they did. At 2:58am, I'm woken up by a rythmic banging of the other rooms headboard against the wall. I realize my headboard isn't attached at the bottom so I bang back. Paper thin wallsThat's when I realize the bed is so hard it feels like I'm sleeping on the floor. And I read the other reviews about dirty sheets, bugs, and dirty/rundown fixtures and furniture. I'm thoroughly disgusted, and don't want to touch anything. At 5:00, I go outside to smoke a cigarette, light up, and the guy requests I move 10 feet from the hotel- which is weird, but at least he's watching. Until I see a fellow in a black hoodie walk from around the back of the hotel to the front with a woman also dressed in black. The hotel guy doesn't say anything to them.
