: Nothing, we received no positives at all. The location is good - right opposite a subway station, but we did not get a chance to enjoy the hotel at all.
: Our booking was cancelled without prior warning. We arrived at the hotel to check in on 1st June, only to find the place swarming with military and refugees. The hotel owner told us that the hotel was closed, it had been closed for a month already, and that he had notified Booking.com to cancel any reservations made. However, I had received a confirmation email two days before to confirm that our booking was still valid. One of the members of the military team contacted the hotel manager when we arrived and explained our predicament, and we were waiting 20 minutes to see the hotel manager, who was elsewhere in the building at the time. We were given the impression that he was not particularly bothered about us or our messed up reservation. As a result, we had to find alternative accommodation, at the last minute, after a long-haul flight, with all our luggage. The hotel owner referred us to a friend's hotel, which was in a dangerous neighbourhood, a long walk from the subway, and was charging $150 a night. We went to see a room, and it was small and cramped, and we chose to find our own hotel after that. The hotel owner made virtually no effort to help us with our predicament. When in the presence of others, he agreed to pay for a taxi to take us to his friend's hotel, but then called us out of the building and said he wasn't actually prepared to do this. We explained that we had just come off a long-haul flight, I was on crutches, and we had our luggage, so walking would be difficult, but he did not care. He made no effort to apologise for the mess-up, which he blamed solely on Booking.com, and made virtually no effort to help us after. Overall, a dreadful experience, with an incredibly unhelpful manager.
