  : Pleasant café bar-cum-reception area at street level, where a good breakfast was provided. Good location on a quiet square close to harbour and beachfront. Friendly staff.
  : Room was clean and functional but very dated. The café-bar at street level is shabby-chic, but the decor beyond that is just shabby. We stayed in three cities on our recent trip to Belgium and used identical criteria to search for three city hotels. We paid considerably less for similarly-rated hotels in Bruges and Antwerp than we paid in Ostend, yet the Ostend hotel was by far the shabbiest and poorest-equipped of the three, so I have to score it poorly in terms of value for money.

  : The best thing about the whole stay was the breakfast! There was a lot of variety of options, everything was freshly made and it was delicious! Similarly, the area where the breakfast is served (also the reception) was very well decorated, clean, and it felt like the all of the furniture was new! The staff was fairly polite as well and very kindly agreed to store our luggage for a few hours the day that we checked out.
  : Well, there is not much that was positive about the room. First and foremost, it wasn't very clean. There were stains on the bed sheets, dust on the furnishing, and a lot of dirt near the windows. The air flow was not good, even with the windows open, which made the atmosphere in the room not so pleasant. In fact, one of the windows did not close fully which allowed a lot of noise to enter the room. Of course, we let the owner/receptionist know about the problem after our first night and he promised to fix it but he didn't. The noise problem was quite vivid actually. Even on the top floor (the 3rd or the 4th, I think) you could still hear people talking and because it's a relatively central area there were a lot of drunk people passing by until 3 am. Last but not least, there was a defect with the left side of the bed, which was a bit bent and did no feel comfortable at all. Needless to say, we did not enjoy our sleep at all...

  : I needed a hotel that wasn't too far away from Kursaal Oostende as I was there for vacation but also a concert. Loved the location and it was a good stay. The owner was very friendly and always answered any question you had. The breakfast was very varied and for me it was definitely enough. I would definitely visit again.
  : There is some work being done in the area. In the weekend, I didn't really hear a lot; it was more in the week but that's something beyond the control of the hotel. Same with the outside noise after 10 p.m. but luckily when you close the window, you didn't really hear anything so that luckily helped.
