  : The food exceeded our expectations: very good dinner and also very good breakfast (particularly appreciated the fruits and natural yogurt, croissants and pastries).Really like the architecture and country house feel of the hotel.

  : The bedroom and bathroom were of a good size and the staff were very helpful. I had a very enjoyable meal in the restaurant. I enjoyed a good night's sleep and the breakfast the next morning was cooked to order and of good quality. I would happily stay here again.

  : The property has picturesque grounds. The room was clean and appreciated the provision of a fan as it was unbearably hot with small windows.
  : The bed was completely unacceptable. It was two single mattresses pushed together which were both lumpy and extremely flat. For £170 a night for a superior room, having two old broken mattresses to sleep on is unacceptable. I have slept on beds in Youth Hostels with better quality furniture. I strongly suggest that management spend a night in room 20 before charging guests this expense rate. Had our home not been a 3hr drive away, we would have gotten up and left in the night. Although staff were lovely and friendly, the service was also poor. They are clearly short staffed as the restaurant waiters were sweating, running and crashing about during dinner service. It caused a tense atmosphere in the small restaurant with one couple waiting over 1hr to receive their bottle of wine. We spent 25 minutes waiting for a drink, with no table water ever materialising. At no point during our stay (including at check out) did the staff ask how we found our experience, or whether everything was ok. This says to me that they are not asking these questions because they know what the response will be. The room décor was tired but tidy, however again it was evident there was a lack of investment in maintaining the rooms, furniture was thread bear (the pictured sofa greeted us as we stepped into the room) and the wardrobe doors were broken so they needed dragging open to access. We will not be staying here again.
