  : The Asty is a well-run, family managed hotel that might not sound special, but the fact its family-run gives it an endearing, informal feel. Staff are good to chat to and can help with travel advice (e.g. on buses) and rent out bikes if needed. Rooms are decent but not spectacular, and the same is true of the buffet breakfast, which does at least offer lots of variety (including eggs cooked to order, cheeses, beans, mushrooms, some slightly weird spiced potatoes and the usual selection of breads, cereals and spreads). One great feature is the 24hr access to the dining room's coffee machines and fridge containing fresh fruit, juice and snacks such as muhallebi (Middle Eastern rice pudding). This means you can get takeaways from the nearby Zorbas delicatessen, for example, and have them here instead of shelling out for restaurant meals. Overall the Asty is a great choice for people who want some mid-range comforts at a decent price, without the sterile atmosphere of chain hotels.
  : People who arent driving should note that the Asty is a full 30-minute walk from the Solomos Square bus station and the old centre of Nicosia (the 41 bus does pass by the hotel, but there are only 2 an hour). The distance doesn't look big on the map, but the route isn't a linear one and pavements/lighting are not great in places, meaning the walk isnt fun with luggage at night. The hotel is in a residential/diplomatic neighbourhood, so facilities such as shops and restaurants are somewhat scattered around. Also, the hotel lets food delivery riders take the elevators up to the rooms to drop off peoples orders I feel this shouldnt be allowed.

  : The staff was very friendly and helpful. The other advantages were a spacious apartment, complimentary drinks, free onsite parking (the parking lot was protected by a gate with a passcode) and good breakfast.
  : The main road adjacent to the hotel was a bit noisy. Also, if you don't have a car, the centre is a bit far away.
