  : We booked a nonrefundable 2-night stay at the Quality Inn in Montpelier a month before our trip to Ohio. If the $250 were in any way refundable, we would've gotten our money back upon first sight of the place/room and stayed elsewhere. The carpets were torn up through the hallways, leaving nothing but cement dust, chunks of concrete, and cement glue everywhere. The walls and furniture of our room were worn and scratched up, the pleather of the desk chair flapping in the breeze of the air conditioner that, though running on high, couldn't cool or dehumidify the room. The bathroom contained no ventilation fan (which must be a code violation, right?) and black mold was present all along the tub's seams and sprinkled all over the popcorn ceiling. There was no drain in the tub, just a gaping hole down to plumbing. I brought in my own cleaning supplies and cleaned the room before I allowed my family to stay there. The TV only worked a small fraction of the time, though we didn't care much about that. The pool was disgustingly warm, under-chlorinated, and things were growing on the walls and floors of it. The deep end was slimy, and green stuff was growing out of the cracks. I would never recommend a friend or family member stay here, and I can promise I will not return.
