  : The place and grounds are beautiful
  : Beds were uncomfortable, mattresses too springy and didn't sleep very well. Rooms should have a fan in considering the warm weather especially temperature reaching 28-29°.

  : This is in response to your reply (which is factually incorrect to cover your actions and behaviour). I never once moaned or refused to pay a late fee. In fact, I was advised by housekeeping because it was past 11am - then I would incur a late fee. To which I replied, that is fine and asked her how long and how much it was. She told me the cost and I said fine - she did not know what the time period was though. Then I received a call from you I assume/Manageress saying I have incurred a late fee and that I needed vacate the room immediately (you gave me 10 minutes). I told you I had already agreed with housekeeping that I was accepting the late fee. I then asked you how long was the time period of the late fee - to which you replied, "that's not the point, if you wanted a late, then you should have booked one yesterday!" And then you said "you also did not come down for breakfast" - which was baffling, to which I replied - what does me not having breakfast have to do with you or this situation. I asked you again, what was the late service time period that you had just charged me for - because I will vacate the room at that time - you still did not give it to me! I never refused to pay a late. You charged my friend a late for for being 15 mins past his time too. You were even more rude when I came down to check out. You were clearly having a bad morning and I was right to call you out on your attitude and poor service. I have stayed at your hotel with my family previously and friends - but as I said to you on Sunday, I will never return, will never recommend your hotel, which is a shame for other staff. Your actions and behaviour were not a good example to set for the younger staff on duty that morning. You clearer had other things going on, or personally needed to be somewhere that morning. Or maybe you just need to find a different line of work.

  : lovely location and grounds.
  : Rooms were tired and not cleaned to the highest standards. A la carte menu was overpriced at £40 per head for 2 courses and I didn’t enjoy the chicken liver parfait starter. My wife enjoyed the fish dish so one positive.

  : House and grounds. Superb. Quiet and relaxing. Friendly staff.
  : Breakfast could be improved. Natural yougert and some fresh fruit would have been better. Cooked breakfast was fine.evening menu would only appeal to a certain clientele.a simplerOptian should have been avaliable at a less expensive price. If this had been provided we would have eaten in at hotel instead of in the town..

  : The hotel is situated in a peaceful location surrounded by a park and river. We booked two rooms the double being more spacious and modern than the two single beds room. Breakfast was excellent and the evening meal was good too.
  : We had no internet connectivity the first night although reception tried to reboot the server. The following morning we had a power cut but fortunately not for long. I had two very high pillows - a much lower one would have been appreciated. The shower seemed rather old and I didn't find a way to adjust the water flow. The windows were only single glazed.

  : Hotel grounds were lovely. Very relaxing setting. Peaceful. Staff were lovely, friendly and welcoming.Location is good if you planned to use it as a base and go off for days in the car, but there wasn' a great deal to do in the immediate area. There wasn't much in Builth Wells, but there is a nice walk along the river into the town.
  : Whilst the room we had was lovely, it could benefit from a refit which is due to happen I understand, in January next year.I think once the rooms are updated and they add some more facilities, the hotel will be excellent.Main thing I didn't like was that there was no pastries at breakfast (although the breakfast was still delicious).

  : Good breakfast but no sweeteners available, no granulated sugar for cereals and lukewarm coffee. Dinner in evening - bottled water ordered but was warm, no cider available, no spoon for gazpacho
