Picturesquely located along the Göta River 40 km from Gothenburg this elegant castle from 1892 is set in Västerlanda. It offers free WiFi outdoor hot tubs and a restaurant with a private wine cellar. Set in different buildings Thorskogs Slott rooms are all individually decorated with tasteful décor and furnishings.

: Breakfast was outstanding. Surroundings beautiful. Staff was superb. 3 course dinner was good, but a little quick.
: There is not much castle experience over being installed in a shed 250 meters from the castle. We only stepped into the castle to pass through it on our way to the orangery for dinner or breakfast. Our acommodation was light and cute, but appeared worn especially outside. The doors showed obvious marks of burglars trying to break in. Not really the most welcoming feeling.

: Gorgeous gardens and castle, good breakfast.
: We did not get to stay in the castle as originally booked. And they didnt let us know until a couple of day in advance. There was a wedding there, who were VERY drunk and occupied the whole bar, and were behaving sort of unpleasant towards us - we felt very unwelcome all over. Everything seemed catered towards the wedding guests and the normal guests were secondary. That would have been fine had we been let know it would affect our stay that much, we would much rather then have come another time without any wedding party. The room we got in the second building was quite disappointing, tired furniture with holes etc and cracks in the ceiling. When letting the staff know, they just ignored it, and were generally unhelpful in regards to the complaint.

: I especifically loved the nature around the castle, and the kind and helpful personnell working there.The dinner and wine was great, although the dinner severely lacked vegetables. For the main course I had a wonderfully made fish and potato with one tiny cherry tomato, half an asparegus and half a tiny pearl onion and a teaspoon full of root mush - and sauce. The beds are very comforable in spacepus rooms, and the atmosphere In the castel is well maintained trough fantastic dim lighting and amazing furniture, wall ornaments and historic pictures. I appreciate the cake and coffee table at the guests disposal, and the breakfast/brunch was lavishing, and much better than expected - it pulls the experience grade right up again after the downfall due to the lack of vegetables for dinner.For the value it was perfect, and given the opportunity again, I would not hesitate to come back.
