  : Access to pool. Clean bedding & towels. Attempt to provide some choice at breakfast to cater for a non-dairy diet. Great location.
  : Car parking. A window that closed properly / was so rotten it was falling out of it's frame. No water for some considerable time in the shower - then just a trickle. Difficult to find staff in the evening / at arrival.

  : Reception staff were very friendly. Central location close to restaurants. The swimming pool was nice and warm enough, but like the rest of the hotel, needs updating
  : No towels provided for the swimming pool and only one bath towel in the room between two people. Rooms need some tlc and updating eg - we only had one working plug point, which was feed via an large extension reel. There seem to be no staff at the hotel, which meant no hotel bar or food service in the evening. Not a huge problem, as there is plenty of choice very close by, but it is always nice to have a pint in the hotel bar

  : Threadbare pillow cases no pillow protectors filthy stained pillows. Hole in duvet cover. Electric sockets not working. Extension cable on a reel to power kettle.

  : the room was not clean, and they didn't even vacuum the carpet. the bathroom was dirty, and there was a cobweb in the room. terrible hotel never intend to return.

  : Very impressive hotel with a lot of historical features, great location, fab pool, good breakfast. This hotel can be of a very high standard with a lot of opportunities to improve.
  : Cleanliness of poor standard in the room and around the hotel - dust visible everywhere, dirty mirrors, visible deterioration of the hotel, rubbish boxes where right on the middle of the room next to the breakfast area. Bathroom has have a shower attachment, but there were no shower switch. From the far back parking you can see a hanging out of the frame windows.

  : Booked at short notice when stranded by the rail strike. Relieved to have a bed. Staff friendly and welcoming. Window in the room opens so possible to get fresh air.
  : Booking : Phoned to ask if a room was available and was refused as they were full. Immediately afterwards got a place on Booking.com. Room on 2nd floor, no lifts - we had to carry our own cases. Two ladies aged 70+ Lights worked - but all the electrics had fused. No room phone - called main line - went to voicemail. Opened a door in the room - to find someone else in a bed next door. Connecting door not locked. No hairdryer Threadbare carpets and cobwebs on the ceiling. Paint peeling on the landing Shower head socket fitted so close to the ceiling that the shower head could not be supported properly Booked and paid for a room for 2 - only one towel Glasses by the sink - one washed, one used. TV remote - battery area covered with masking tape. Remote did not work - no way to turn on the TV.

  : The building, the size of it, the beautiful beams, the endless number of rooms, lounges, the very relaxed athmosphere. the character of the place. So refreshingly different and authentic, compared with Holiday Inn or Premier Inn etc where all the rooms are the same, everything smooth and efficient but devoid of any character.. The pool and the quaint sauna, just amazing. Hope it can survive as it is.
  : It was very drafty, the window didn't shut properly and it was a wet and windy day.
