  : The building is beautiful and it is in the heart of lacock which us beautiful. The waiting staff are lovely and try to be helpful.
  : The bed was uncomfortable, the room was noisy and we kept being woken. Check out is 10.30am despite breakfast being served through to 11.30. We spoke to the owner to see if a later checkout would be possible and he was very unhelpful and a little rude.The real issues came during Sunday lunch. Our friend joined us for lunch and had terrible trouble with the owner. She recommended and booked the stay here on our behalf and was looking forward to coming back for lunch on our visit to lacock. Sadly its been taken over by new owners and its really gone down hill. She is 13 months post bariatric surgery and as such asked if she could have a child's portion. The waitress was lovely and said that was no problem. It was a fixed menu with a choice of 2 or 3 courses. Her roast was nice, the beef a little tough but otherwise pleasant. My partner and i ordered the vegan Wellington, when it arrived we were told one was vegetarian the other vegan, when queried they insisted they were different despite them appearing identical abd having ordered the same thing. Fortunately vegetarian is suitable for one of us and so we took the risk. The food was reasonable tasting but not very warm. My friends desert was flavourless and disappointing and she could only manage a couple of spoonfuls. When the bill came the highly confrontational owner told her she was not a child and therefore can't have the child's meal and that he had done her a favour letting her have a small plate! He charged 13 for the small roast and 9 for the worst tiramasu my friend had ever tried! The agreed to childs meal was 16 for 2 courses. He was rude, argumentative and entirely determined to stand his ground. She asked for a 6 reduction to the bill, he refused. He told her she was petty and lucky he did anything to help as she clearly wasn't a child. The irony is that we therefore requested he removed the automatically added service charge of 10.
