  : Out of town by a shallow river with sandy beach. Warm welcome, super continental breakfast all you could eat. All very clean but basic. Would stay again.

  : What a lovely find the Hotel Escale Saint Joseph is! I was just staying the one night, driving on my way from the south to the north of France. This is more than a hotel; it's almost like a modern camping lodge in its own quite large grounds, just off the main road leading west out of Tournon Sur Rhne. I think the owner intends to renovate the grounds; there are the remnants of an old crazy golf course. I would say the Escale Saint Joseph would be an ideal base for exploring the Ardeche because it has the advantage of being only about 3K from Tournon Sur Rhne, which is an interesting historical town with several restaurants, obviously on the banks of the Rhne. When I was there on the night of the 31/5/22 there was a group of French ramblers. The owner, whom I'm sorry I didn't get his name, was very friendly, helpful and welcoming, as all the staff were; I think one was his young son. The bedrooms are named after wildlife, so mine was the Papillon! The room was large, comfortable and clean with a great bathroom, large double bed and a door leading out the back to a small terraced area, individual to each room. Although the hotel is just off the main road, my room was quiet. Breakfast was good and there is plenty of parking on site. I would like to explore the Ardche in the future and I will definitely consider this hotel.

  : Excellent location for riding the Le Mastrou (train de l'Ardeche); excellent breakfast and very welcoming host.
  : Nothing to complain about; this is a fairly simple establishment but good value for money.
