  : The rooftop terrace provides a choice of sun or shade all day long and gives a wide sea view. A real distinguishing feature to turn a good spot into a great one.Combined with the very friendly and helpful staff this made for a great stay.

  : Wonderful stay at Rok Plaza. Perfect location for exploring Alcal. Responsive staff and very quiet, comfortable building. Would definitely return!
  : There was a slight damp smell in the bathroom and hot water ran out quickly but with the warm days (and short stay), we didn't mind that much.

  : Good location in the small village, next to a beach. Nice (shared) roof-terrace. There is an excellent supermarket nearby. Local restaurants get very busy and booking is advisable. Kathy, the check-in / out person is very helpful and knowledgeable.
  : The accounts department give the impression of being helpful, but are not. They sent a lengthy message at the end of our stay blaming us for the problems (below), which compelled me to write this review! They took a 20 % deposit of the total in euro on our credit card, which was fine. They took the remaining balance on the same credit card, without any notice. It looked like a fraudulent transaction - they had used a different merchant name (Casa Mar) for an odd amount. We eventually worked out the Casa Mar / RokPlaza relationship, and that they had processed the transaction in GBP: consequently we suffered a very poor exchange rate which cost us nearly 50 more. We insisted that they reverse that transaction and represent it in euro. This led to lengthy interchange with them, where they claimed it was our bank's fault we had been charged in GBP! I asked Booking.com to intervene, but they were fobbed off by RokPlaza who claimed they were dealing with the matter. RokPlaza contravened several regulations of their Credit Card Merchant Agreement because they processed a payment: 1. From a different merchant name 2. Without our authority 3. In GBP without our authority They will have profited by processing the transaction in GBP due to Dynamic Currency Conversion which favours the merchant. The tale continued and eventually they admitted they had 'made a mistake' and would repay us when we arrived at the accommodation. Needless to say, the check-in person (the fantastically helpful Kathy) knew nothing of this promise, but did follow it through and repaid the majority of the over-charge (50 euro). If this happens to you, notify your credit card company who will revoke the transaction and the merchant will incur a chargeback, so it will cost them money to ignore you. Also, be aware that the photos do not accurately depict a single apartment - they are an amalgam of several apartments.

  : Excellent location in a small seaside town. A bit different from the usual hotels, in a good way. Had a small apartment to myself.
  : I would have loved to have a balcony but there is a small sunroof which everyone can use (and everyone is never many people as this is a small hotel). So this isnt a dislike as much as pointing out that some of the apartments have a balcony, so you might want to consider those.

  : Great location, shops & lovely restaurants all within walking distance. Lovely spotless apartment, everything you could possibly need was thought of. Cleaning staff was very good, regular changing of bedding & towels.
  : Cant really find a fault, it was great value for that price. One small thing from a female point of view, could do with a proper full length mirror.

  : We had to pay extra to unlock the second bedroom of the appartment which was pretty strange No bedside lamps, nothing to put a suitcase on If you like brown and panther print wall styling you will love it. We thought it was a bit sombre Alcala is well situated and has a few nice restaurants but apart from the sea it is not a pretty place The sea is a bit intimidating to swim in with all the black rocks but there are also some beaches where it's allright Watch out where you park, our car was towed away

  : Rok Plaza is ideally located at a small plaza with many bars and restaurants just around the corner. The sea is also just around the corner and you can start a walk from Rok Plaza that can take you miles along the coastline. The apartement itself is very spacious and very clean, the staff exceptionally friendly. There is a roof terrace that can be used by all guests with a lovely view of the sea and the sunset. The beds are big and if you like your matresses on the hard side you'll find them very comfortable as my friend did. For me they were too hard so that I didn't sleep very well. Alcala is a nice little town which is not overrun by tourists. All in all we enjoyed our stay very much and I would book Rok Plaza again although there were a few things I didn't like so much.
  : We had our apartement on the ground floor and our bedrooms faced the street. The windows were actually eye-level with the street. Whenever someone walked by the window and talked, it felt as if they stood directly in the room. Fortunately the nights were mostly quiet.The apartement has a lot of space but that space isn't used to it's full potential. For example: I'm sure guests would appreciate it if they had some place to put their towels. There is not one towel hook to be found anywhere. And altough on the plus side the apartement has basically everything you need, the equipment - especially the kitchen equipment - is of rather poor quality. And one thing that really bothered me: You book a two bedroom apartement on Booking.com The price is by no way cheap but it is reasonable - for a two bedroom apartement. However, once you've booked you receive an email telling you that you've actually only booked one bedroom and if you want to use the second bedroom you'll have to pay extra. They make you a "special price", supposedly to make you feel better about it. And initially that works - psychology I guess. But the fact remains that this is a highly questionable business practice. We paid 150 Euro more in the end. It would be more honest if Rok Plaza would make it obvious from the start that you can book a one bedroom apartement for a certain price and a two bedroom apartement for another. People would still pay but they wouldn't feel so bad about it.

  : The friendly welcome, full briefing on the facilities and willingness to help with any requests. The space and furnishings were excellent and high quality and we enjoyed the sun terrace. Location was wonderful.
  : We'd stay on a different floor if we returned as the ground floor bedroom window looked straight onto the street so we could not eve ropen the curtains or window. This made the bedroom dark.
