  : Such an ideal place to stay on your highland road trip.The location is second to none, rooms are super comfy and have everything you need and the general vibe of the place is ace. We were super delighted by the lovely Roseanne at the front desk who was a pleasure to talk to and made us a cracka cup of coffee in the morn. Thankyou !

  : We booked a 'Deluxe Twin Room' and having come from a two night stay in another Muthu Hotel we were expecting the same standards, we couldn't have been more wrong.Room had cheap flooring which wasn't fitted correctly, no carpet, and no bath, room was half the size of our previous stay,room felt and smelt damp, we were told hotel only opens 6 months of the year.There was exposed wiring to the table lamp, black marks on the walls and architrave, drip marks below the sink, shoddy beading work around the sink, and shower, damage to the shower tray frame.There was a bottle of still water in the room, which was unsealed, so assume had just been refilled from the tap.In the adjacent corridor from our room, they was a laundry cupboard, with dirty towels overflowing into the corridor.The duty manager initally tried to fob us off, saying the room was 'similar' standard to others in the chain, we then looked at 2 other rooms, but they were equally poor.We returned with photos of our room, and the online photos of the Oban hotel, which bore no comparison, the Duty Manager tried to suggest we should just cancel our booking and go elsewhere, which we couldn't do as we had pre-paid.We made it clear, that we weren't happy and suggested that he either gave us a significant refund on the room, or gave us a free evening meal as compensation, after presumably discussing with someone else, he returned and agreed we could have a 2 course meal each, the meal itself, and breakfast were the only two good things.We worked out that the Muthu chain had recently taken over what was previously called the 'West End Hotel' and would appear to have 'done up' the common areas, but not the actual rooms, you pay for your room, not areas you just pass through.We are aware that Hotel Rooms in the Highlands aren't cheap, but trying to charge £177 for a £80 room at best is a joke.
