  : The building is charming in a good location, very near the cliff top gardens to the west of the townWe found the room, and the rest of the hotel very clean -apart from the pigeons, see belowMost of the staff very obliging
  : Room was rather small, particularly for the price.It was extraordinarily hot for an outside temp of 16 degrees. We did have a fan which was quite effective, but were unable to have the windows open because pigeons kept flying in, even with curtains closed. We feared one was actually trying to nest under the bed; it was there some time before we found it and had arranged some small bits of debris around itself.The hotel staff excused the heat by saying it was an old building and its listed status prevented the installation of air conditioning. But that is absurd; I’ve lived in England all my life and stayed in many hotels and guesthouses, there are usually only a very few days a year when air con would be necessary for comfort, and this weekend wasn’t any of them

  : The receptionist was friendly and efficient. The location is close to the sea and in a quiet road. The room was quiet overlooking gardens and away from traffic.
  : The bed was very hard and uncomfortable and unfortunately there was no hot water in the shower, even though there was hot water to the basin in the bathroom.
