  : Since writing this review the hotel have contacted me and apologised for the events that ruined our stay. I'm going to say that we all have bad days, we certainly experienced the hotel having a bad one! However the fact that they called me, apologised and have offered me a refund, tells me they pay attention to these reviews and act on them. So we had a bad stay here but the Customer Service has been excellent since then and I am left with the feeling that they do care and they will act on the issues we encountered. In view of their after care service I'm going to increase my rating from 1 to 5. I cannot alter what happened to us, room 61 is horrible and will be until they refurbish it, but I respect the fact they contacted me and apologised! Original review: To be brutally honest there was very little I liked about this hotel, yes the location is remote and beautiful, but the hotel itself was awful, the room was horrible, the food was mostly poor and some of the staff were rude and unhelpful. My review below has been limited by the space available, my letter of complaint will be twice as long. This visit was meant to be a treat for my partner who was on a 2 day intensive training course in the hotel after our stay, it turned out to be a nightmare. A complete waste of 200+ and a 300km round trip. Never again. If you decide to visit this hotel don't let them give you room 61...!
  : Where to start! Some of the staff were not very friendly, indeed one or two were nearly rude. We booked a table in the restaurant for dinner... after several attempts. We were initially told we couldn't, then after speaking to her supervisor were were given a table, I can't understand the issue, when we went to the restaurant later it was about a quarter full. The meal was awful. They didn't have an English version of the menu, my partner who's Dutch couldn't understand much of it, nor could the waitress! In the end I ordered what I could understand. My partner started with Miso soup, it was nearly cold, I had a white fish salad that looked lovely but had no flavour whatsoever. The main course of deer lifted the quality of the meal, not that it could have got much worse, at least it was hot and had flavour. My dessert was a cheese board, served with a spoon to eat it with, there was a selection of cheeses in small portions of which two were good the rest tasteless. My partner had something resembling a chocolate brownie, she ate some but said it was very sweet, not bad, just not very good. Our room was terrible. The room was very dated, fairly small, there was no wardrobe to hang clothes just a rail behind the panel on which the tv was mounted, (think IBIS budget hotels 20 years ago!). There were no drawers for clothes. The bathroom was small and basic. Breakfast was OK, checkout was poor because the receptionist was unhelpful

  : Beds were absolutely amazing, really comfortable. Really nice how they accommodate dog owners in a separate area during breakfast. Staff was really friendly and in for a laugh. Dinner was really nice, well balanced and interesting flavours. The location in the woods is also really nice. Overall we had a really nice stay.

  : Our room was a bit budget. Shower in en-suite was a little dated and sad. Bed too soft.

  : The room was quite spacious, and the staff were very accommodating of our late check-in. There was lots of parking nearby, and the location is quiet and lovely, right in nature. The included breakfast was wonderful - lots of options to choose from.
  : Room was very far away from the main hub of the hotel. The walls were thin so we could hear our neighbours watching TV. The setup of the room was a little odd, with a sink in the main sleeping area.
