  : The smell of the bathroom is terrible.I lived in the attic. When it rains, it's really annoying and you can hear everything from the street.

  : We'd become sick by this point of the trip and the angled ceilings and 3rd floor walk up wore us out. Really though, the place was terrific.

  : Location, location, location! Not only are the rooms located within the walls of Dubrovnik, they are just a few easy steps inside of the main gate of Dubrovnik. Not only was the location convenient for exploring all of old Dubrovnik (which admittedly doesn't take too long), the steps leading to the city wall walk are right nearby, and just outside Pile Gate is an area for the buses for any day trips you might sign up for. Breakfast isn't offered but there's a good restaurant also just outside Pile Gate (although there's a number at the other end of Old Dubrovnik as well). Because of the location we could get up early and have the town to ourselves (well before the first wave of Cruise Shippers). The staff arranged for an airport pickup which priced out at roughly the same price a taxi would cost (I'm not sure you need this as there were plenty of Taxi's at the airport but we did get in very late so it was nice to have). A staff member also met us at Pile Gate and guided us to the room- this was important as there is rarely any staffing at the rooms.
  : I assumed that the Klarisa Palace was a boutique hotel of sorts but its really just a handful of rooms that sit above a souvenir store- we only saw a staff member once during our entire stay so if you're not comfortable with that level of self sufficiency, this may not be a good fit. Not surprisingly, the room was small (but clean with A/C and modern fittings). Street noise wasn't really much of an issue (mainly drunks at the fountain) but when we were there, the Hardrock Cafe would set up tables right in front of the rooms during the day but would shrink their footprint down to an inner courtyard at night (which was fine) but we were here in October so if you're sensitive to noise at night and are staying during the peak season, you might want to check this out. And for two people who enjoy their instant coffee in the morning, it was disappointing to not have a kettle in the room.

  : Excellent location. However, nothing else more positive to write.
  : Reception being available or contactable when they were supposed to be there. Very basic facilities. Banal design, with no character. Poor quality linen. Poor drainage to shower.
