: Breakfast was very good on our first morning there, especially the excellent, friendly and attentive service of Josep. The spa area was as enjoyable as we had hoped it would be - the option to use the spa privately was a major reason why we choose Casa Banys. The massages given by the lovely Pilar were wonderful! The homemade desserts at dinner were very good. Beautiful, peaceful, green, mountainous surroundings.
: The room we were given was a little too small, and didnt quite merit the price, we feel. The mattresses were too soft and unsupportive, hence we werent able to have even reasonable nights rest on either of the nights we stayed there. We chose to stay and have dinner at the Casa Banys restaurant on the first night there - you have to drive out of the area in order to find alternative options (which in more remote, natural, peaceful locations this is completely understandable). Unlike many other reviews we read in advance, we were not impressed with the the main meal. The menu and quality of food was definitely one of the most disappointing aspects of the stay. Needless to say, we looked elsewhere for lunch and dinner options for the remainder of our stay. We stayed from Wednesday to Friday - there was a noticeable change in the energy of the place as Friday afternoon and the weekend approached...not the type of change welcome for a retreat. With the exception of the excellent Josep, and the hardworking cleaners, friendliness and hospitality levels seemed to decrease, and an air of stress, tension and impatience appeared to increase. Maybe they were preparing for some kind of special event? Befitting of a retreat (balneario)...? Im not sure.
