  : Gorgeous, remote hut with just one other hut nearby (which you couldn't see through the trees). The stars are amazing round here! Plenty of firewood provided plus more you can buy while there. Lovely and clean, with soap and sanitiser provided. We took an axe but there is one provided for chopping wood. Will definitely be back!
  : We didn't realise until we contacted the host that there was a compost toilet and we had to take our own bedding and towels. Not a problem but we would have liked to have known beforehand as it wasn't quite what we were expecting.

  : The hut was located in a meadow field/woodlands, nicely decorated, host was nice when we called about access. They had emailed with details to access earlier. No check in time. Could have a nice fire outside. Pretty easy to use communal shower. Access to a very beautiful garden across from the hut, secluded and quiet.
  : Kept receiving prompts from TravelNest that manages the hut, felt like I was being bombarded with information that wasnt necessarily helpful. The email the owner sent was useful but was lost with all the emails leading to the stay. The toilet is a bit far, may put you off from going out late at night, no sanitiser in toilet. Curtains by the door would be helpful.

  : Location was exactly what I wanted, remote and idyllic. Beautiful spot. The hut had so much more in it than I was expecting, and didn't really need to bring much with us at all apart from food and bedding. There really isn't much around so you have to come prepared. We chose not to eat anywhere nearby but the Hut has everything you need. Bring cash for extra logs though if you didn't bring your own firewood. Definitely bring a torch though and power supply for your phone if you need it. Great phone signal. So so lovely and warm in the shepherds Hut once the fire is on, to the point you need to crack open a window. So clean, cleaned to a high standard. Even the toilet was clean despite me not being a fan of pooping in a hole. The car park is literally very very close to the Hut so a couple of trips with bags and you're all sorted. Very private, even though other shepherds Hut is nearby, never heard a peep out of the neighbours. The STARS were incredible, seriously amazing.
  : Literally my only complaint. It was snowing and all the water supply was frozen, which meant no showers and no access to the water butts for dishwashing or drinking water. I did brave the shower, albeit a trickle of ice cold water. I was actually really impressed with the cleanliness of the shower area and plenty of room to get changed in. Luckily i had brought bottles and bottles of water so we were fine with lack of water supply, but i think could easily be fixed with some insulation/covering on the water butts. Definitely a great place to come all year around.

  : The shower was unexpectedly good. Location was lovely and had a sense of peace. The Smithy tearoom in New Galloway is excellent.
  : The gas burner was falling apart & one of the gas bottles was completely empty. The bench outside is falling apart. Bedding wasn't provided. The other hut on site was a better design and Rowan seemed to be the poor relation. There was no warning in the information that the availability of water for the shower is dependent on the amount of recent rainfall. The hut needs some sort of insect mesh to allow the windows to be open but prevent the midges getting in. The price is far too high for what you actually get
