Garni Waldfrieden - Castelrotto

Within 1.5 km of the centres of Castelrotto and Siusi allo Sciliar Garni Waldfrieden offers rooms with a balcony. It is a 5-minute walk from a public swimming pool tennis court and horse riding stables. Alpine-style rooms overlook the surrounding mountains and garden.

: Quiet, comfortable, family-run garni with easy access to the shuttle bus to Alpe di Siusi cable car. Easy to walk into Castelrotto for meals and shopping (about a mile round trip). Simply fabulous breakfast. Bettina and her mother RosaMaria were warm and welcoming.

: Amazing friendly and kind familly-owned hotel (They even allow us to do late check-out and take a shower after a full ski day) The house is really charming, comfortable and extremely clean. Breakfast was good. Amazing value for money.
: Beds are a bit hard, but still ok. A topper would be great to make the stay perfect.

: Nice place nearby Castelrotto (15 minutes walk to the centre) and Seis (15 minutes walk to the centre and bahnhof). Great place to start all the trips to Seiser Alm valley atrractions and you don't need to use a car as there is a bus stop (Telfen) about 200 meters from the hotel. The buses goes straight to Bozen, Brixen, St. Ulrich or to the cabins. Parking is free under Seiser Alm Bahn, but that is the only place, where you park for free; all the other places in every village or city (St. Ulrich, Castelrotto, Seis, Brixen...) are very cosy for parking charge - so you should rather go with bus - there's a pity, as there are no evening buses (only Fr / Sut), and if you want to visit St. Ulrich in the evening, the car is necessary (14 minutes drive). If you buy a Gold Card for Seiser alm, you have all the shuttle buses free, as well as the lifts. If you stay in Telfen, you can go to Compatsch and Saltria free of charge directly by bus from Telfen stop, and don't need to go to Seis and wait for the Cabinova. I loved italian ice cream (despite most of citizens are German), food and drink in restaurants are regular price and in oppositon of Austria or Germany really cheap (about twice as cheap). I loved the Jack Russel dog in a hotel. Car parking straight in the hotel place free of charge.
: - hot shower takes a bit longer to come - left wall plug next to the bed wasn't working; generally - not enough plugs, so we had to plugedd in the bathroom - one wardrobe holder fell of during our session - little less of light, because a chandelier is not so big, so there was a little dark during evenings and mornings - we didn't get Guest card of Seiser Alm - not to the hotel but to the Seiser Alm generally: almost every place has a big parking fees, so rather go by bus than a car, if possible; also the timetables of the buses or route maps for hikes are horrible, as there are marking routes in the map, but just as a color and number, and you cant possibly find out, whether the trip takes you 1 or 5 hours walk; this is not good, if you need to plan; also generally the Dolomites are more expensive for accomodation and gasoline, but cheaper for food and drinks in restaurants than the Austrian/German Alps

: We were made very welcome and could get tea in the afternoons which was very welcome! The breakfast was excellent, eggs cooked perfectly, great choice of different breads, cheeses and meats. All topped off by freshly made homemade jam! Our host spoke good English, gave us advice on walks and was just nice to chat too.
