Disappointing

: The view was good The bed was comfortable The staff were friendly
: The room was too noisy People above were making a noise from 4 o clock in the morning You could hear every water system that was used in any part of the building The be parking area next to the building was on a slope and not very good The pathway to the main building was longer than we had been led to believe We booked evening meal in the restaurant The restaurant staff were very friendly but after ordering we didnt get our first course for 45 minutes which is unacceptable We were only waiting for soup Every course seemed to be a long time being served. Other people came in after us and were served quicker. They were on their sweet course before we had a starter

Very Good

: The views, Gardens and hospitality rooms were exceptional the character of the building was the main reason for going and that did not disappoint Senior staff were brilliant junior staff were willing some great some not so. Lack of training
: Had to pay an upgrade to move from the annex into main building

: Staff very friendly and helpful. Beautiful situation overlooking the Strait and nice gardens.
: Bedroom was very stuffy and uncomfortably warm. Rather shabby and for the price we paid we didn't expect to be housed in the basement. Very disappointed with the breakfast, poor choice of cooked options and the continental breakfast left much to be desired. No sugar or milk for the cereals and very limited choice. Had to pinch some cutlery off an adjoining table so we could eat our yoghurt.

: Chateau itself was gorgeous but very expensive
: The lodge rooms were underwhelming. Bathroom down the hall not in the room. Too many rooms crammed into a small area.

: Location is idyllic. Staff were friendly and helpful.
: We were both disappointed with the breakfast. We had such a lovely meal in the dining room the night before that we had expected similar. Poached eggs were hard and my husband couldnt eat his bacon it was like leather also sausage appeared it had been cooked and left standing..

Very Good

: Disappointed NO Lava bread ( as before !!! ) as a Welsh breakfast advertised !! We were not offered OJ etc was this somewhere else ?
: Fabulous view but furniture very bitty. Not sure why we needed a towel rail with hangers on it in the room ?? Or a PLASTIC bag in all the bins . Didn't find hair dryer ??

Wonderful

: The grounds were beautiful and the room was excellent. The breakfast food was brilliant and staff were very attentive
: The only slight issue was the staff at breakfast on the last day were quite slow and seemed chaotic. This was the busiest day we were in for breakfast and the other days were outstanding

Disappointing

: The views, the gardens, style of chateau, the public rooms
: Terrace Bar closed if you wanted a drink on the terrace you had to go up 2 floors. Dining room was cold and very small for the size of the hotel., we had the same menu both nights we were expecting a different menu each night which is what you expect in this level of hotel, items were missing from the dish we picked, hot food served on cold plates does not work. On the second night the portions were considerably smaller. Breakfast not much choice for continental things were not replenished, no bread at all just croissants and a few pastries. Cooked breakfast again hot food on cold plates, bacon cremated on both mornings cold toast. When we first arrived we couldnt find the hairdryer, couldnt access the safe and couldnt ring reception because the phone wasnt working so had to go back up 2 flights of stairs to reception. The TV was inadequate for the size of the room, the price and the star rating of the property.
