  : The spiral stairs to the room were a bit hard to carry the luggage but worth it once to the top. Parking was a bit difficult.

  : The location is awesome: a quiet alley, with views to nearby historic buildings, but just a three minute walk from the main square. Clean and bright parking garage a three minute walk. One minute to the castle (meh, among castles of Europe) and river. Thirty seconds from the front door is the entrance to the excellent museum of musical instruments, located in the church-like hall built in 1504 for the guild of butchers (thus, it is the Museum Vleeshuis, or meat house). The room was spacious and comfortable, with excellent amenities (showers, refrigerator, table, sitting area, etc.) The selection of Belgian beer glasses was appreciated (you have to pay for the beers in the fridge, of course.) It was also cute and reflected a lot of effort by the owner--who was quite nice, by the way. The eight bottles of sparkling water in our room were free, we were told, which is very generous (probably too generous...I wouldn't have offered the same.)
  : If you're a serious history buff, you'll find that the owner isn't a great judge of the line between "charming" and "kitsch". The knight's suit of armor in our room is hilariously bad. The portraits on the wall are cheap knock-offs. The canopies over the beds are not at all sturdy, so don't get too wild in bed. Some things, like the TV stand and large potted plants, are just awkward in the space. And if you look around the corner, there are a few rough edges (like wall trim that needs repair). The total visual appeal is still great, but it's more of a veneer of quality. // Caveat: the spiral staircase to the suites means that this is not accessibility to those with disabilities.
