  : The owners were very friendly and nice people. Location of the guesthouse was the best one could ask for in Ambleside. Bed in the room was very comfortable and also I was very pleased with breakfast options offered. Surely had lovely breakfasts. View from the window next to the bed was amazing ! Sunsets every evening over the mountains.
  : Sadly the building and the room wasn't cleaned properly. Dining and bar area were very clean, however hallways and carpets on stairs were very dirty/dusty. The room itself was seemingly clean. Clean sheets and floors, however I had multiple spiders in the room through out my stay that were running in well built webs in the ceiling. Meaning this space was not cleaned for a long time. As I have a strong fear, this kept me up whole night . The owner was kind to offer a discount for a sleepless night , which I appreciate. But I would have preferred a good night sleep. Also the room was extremely muggy/humid . I washed a t-shirt on my first evening there and it hadn't dried by day 4. As I stayed in another similar guesthouse in Lake District for 5 nights after my visit to Elder Grove, and from that experience I can say it is possible to keep a guesthouse perfectly clean I would say Elder Grove was lacking on that part. And I do wish I would have had this information before booking there.

  : The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. Great location, close to the bus station and to the restaurants. Easy to connect to other areas in the lake district such as Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere through 599 bus.

  : The location is brilliant. Very handy for local walks and getting out and about on the buses. Very friendly and accommodating.
  : It was a bit difficult showering with the low sloped ceiling over the bath.
