  : Breakfast was good. The bed was very comfortable. There was a nice sea view in the distance. The staff were polite and friendly.
  : The room (cape may) was very noisy and not as clean as I would expect. The entrance isnt signposted and you feel that youre entering through the trade entrance around the back of the building.

  : This is a stunning hotel set in the beautiful Northumberland countryside. Lovely surrounding gardens and very friendly staff.
  : We would have preferred to have enjoyed breakfast within the hotel rather than having to walk to The Joiners Arms. Having said that, we always received a warm welcome and lovely food there.

  : Lovely location, cosy and quirky garden rooms. Tot tub was delightful.
  : It didnt feel secluded or private, there were a lot of rooms crammed into a small space. Garden space was limited, muddy and there was rubbish under the bushes in the garden. Decor in rooms was cheap and broken. Bathroom blind was mouldy, tiles broken. Not worth the price.

  : Fantastic old building but with all the mod cons. Beautiful surroundings and close to all the tourist attractions and stunning beaches.We had the St Bernard room which had a lovely roll top bath in the bedroom...nice touch of luxury.
  : We booked the hotel with a third party Booking.com.On their website there's obviously no mention of the hotel being a popular wedding venue. Unfortunately for us, there was a mid week wedding being held during our stay. Our first night was perfect with no noise and was very peaceful. What a contrast for the second night! Unknown to us, the main hotel was exclusively booked out for the wedding. We only found this out when we tried to get a drink at the bar to be told 'sorry but the bar is for wedding guests only'. Staff said we could get a drink but at the pub down the road which they also owned. We could hear the music at the wedding party until midnight but some guests decided to carry on their celebrations in a room underneath ours until the early hours.Mentioned this on checkout the following morning but just received a vague apology and confirmation that it was a popular wedding venue. If we'd known this we certainly wouldn't have booked for the second night.Disappointing to say the least!Our advice even if booking through a third party site would be to ring the hotel directly to check if a wedding was being held during your planned stay.
